See film of pilot project in Glasgow, Scotland

One of the EU partners in the noPILLS project is the Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. The University has a wide range of disciplines involved to approach the micropollutant project in a holistic way. In many European countries it is normal to buy pharmaceuticals like painkillers in supermarkets, too. In comparison for example to Germany it is therefore important for solutions on the EU level to investigate the consumer’s behavior (When and why do people consume drugs? Why do they buy which product in a supermarket? Have OTC [over the counter] pharmaceuticals another importance than physician’s prescriptions? How are expired drugs disposed?). Moreover, investigations are carried out on microbiology, ecotoxicity, efficiency of treatment technologies and many other research topics.
